Blangkon

Blangkon are hats made from batik and worn by men as part of their traditional javanese dress.
In the periode of Java palace, Javanese people especially man have a long hair and they very proud with that and they will be offended when their hair band open so their hair hang loosely.
When Islam come to Java, the ethics change, Islam disallow man show their long hair, so Javanese people make a cover from their batik cloth. Up to know this become "Blangkon". While the hair bandage on the rear call as "mondolan".

Yogya style, blangkon keep the "mondholan" like a hair badage but in Surakarta or Solo style "mondholan" usualy thin and flat or without mondholan.
